Jared D. Comstock
Jared is a shareholder at HCW Legal and has deep roots in Gainesville, where he was born and raised. After graduating from P.K. Yonge High School, Jared attended Georgia Southern University on an athletic scholarship, where he pitched for the baseball team and earned a degree in finance. Following college, he spent several years in the financial sector before pursuing a law degree at Florida Coastal School of Law. There, he was a member of the Law Review and graduated in the top 3% of his class.
Jared joined HCW Legal in 2011 as an associate and worked at the firm until 2016. From 2016 to 2023, he worked at two highly regarded firms, focusing on civil litigation in areas such as personal injury, motor vehicle negligence, premises liability, workers’ compensation, and commercial litigation. In 2024, Jared returned to HCW Legal as a shareholder. His current practice includes commercial litigation, real property litigation, post-judgment collections, personal injury, and workers’ compensation.
Outside of his legal practice, Jared enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, coaching youth sports, attending Gator sporting events, and playing golf.
David E. Williamson
David is a shareholder at HCW Legal and has been a long-time resident of Gainesville. After graduating from Buchholz High School, David served in the United States Army on active duty before returning to Gainesville to pursue higher education. He earned his B.S. and Master’s degrees in Accounting, as well as his Juris Doctorate, all from the University of Florida. David has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2005.
David joined the firm in 2008 and became a shareholder in 2024. His practice areas include real property litigation, post-judgment collections, commercial and residential landlord-tenant law, condominium and HOA collections and enforcement, and contract litigation.
Outside of work, David enjoys playing sports, attending Gator sporting events, and traveling with his wife.
John F. Hayter
John earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Florida before going on to receive his Juris Doctorate from Cumberland School of Law in 1979. With a career focused on collections since the early 1980s, John founded the firm in 1992. He continues to serve as “of counsel” to the firm.
John Hayter retired at the end of 2024 after a distinguished career in collections. The firm he founded in 1992 is now entrusted to his partners and new owners, Jared Comstock and David Williamson. John is enjoying his retirement by spending quality time with his family.
